The best of the best of Aussie’s mortgage broking force have been recognised at the recent Aussie Sales Conference, recently held in Melbourne’s luxurious Crown Complex.
The Awards, dubbed the Aussie Oscars, recognised the achievements and hard work of a group of mobile brokers and retail stores from across the country.
National and state awards were given with Baulkham Hills taking out the category for “Retail Store of the Year” writing more than $112 million in loans during the last financial year, while nearby Parramatta came in as runner-up with $106 million while Newtown was third on $87 million.
For the mobile channel, Victorian brokers scored the hat-trick with Alistair Baker awarded Mobile Broker of the Year (AC – receives leads and self-sourced) on $73 million, Adam Brandt on $55 million and Robert Hodson on $54 million.
In the Mobile Broker of the Year (A-Rep, self-sourced leads), Paul Farrell from Victoria took out the award on $42 million while NSW’s Lindsay Rogers came in at no.2 with $40 million.
In the retail channel, Newtown’s Clair George was awarded Loan Writer of the Year with settled loans worth $37 million. She was followed by Darwin’s Bridget Headland on $35 million and Anu Dua from Victoria on $30 million.
Rookie of the Year went to WA’s Andrew Merritt who started with Aussie in June last year, and wrote more than $13 million in his first year in the industry.
The Aussie Excellence Award, which is based on cross-sales and conversion, went to Matthew Rose from South Australia in the mobile channel and Glenn English, franchisee of Carnegie in Victoria in retail.
For the first time, a new award “Emerging Store of the Year” was given to NSW’s Rouse Hill, which is owned by Erica and Frank Elvy, and Duane Brown.
Aussie’s Executive Director Mr James Symond said the Aussie Sales Conference was a huge success, not only delivering its delegates great information and tools to build their business, it was also a great opportunity to take some time out for some hard-earned fun.
“The Awards and the Conference have been a spectacular opportunity for our brokers and head office team to spend three days together learning, arming ourselves with new information to build our business and to let our hair down,” he said.
“The Awards are also very important as it gives us the opportunity to celebrate the success and hard work of the top echelons of our mortgage brokers,” he said.
The Awards capped off a three-day conference, which was attended by more than 500 delegates, and was jam-packed with notable speakers such as advertising executive, The Gruen Transfer panellist and Earth Hour co-founder Todd Sampson, body language expert Chris Helder and US sales trainer Jack Daly.
Conference delegates were also given the opportunity to attend workshops and masterclasses held by their peers, including MFAA Broker of the Year Mike Buchecker as well as experts in digital marketing and networking.
Fun dominated the evening events, with attendees being whisked away to a “Silk Road” themed party on one evening, and the Aussie Oscars hosted by Channel 9 personality Richard Wilkins, and entertainment from The Rat Pack and Jon Stevens from Noiseworks.
