Aussie takes over State of Origin Sponsorship

Aussie Home Loans announced today that it would takeover Wizard Home Loans’ sponsorship of the NSW State of Origin Rugby League Team for the next two years.

The move to boost the team follows Aussie’s acquisition of Wizard Home Loans, finalised last week.

The will continue to sport the Wizard Brand on its jersey for much of 2009 to ensure that fans who have bought merchandise will not be disadvantaged by the change in the naming rights sponsor.

Transition from the ‘Wizard Blues’ to the ‘Aussie Blues will take place progressively over the Tri-Series, which will kick-off on June 3, 2009.

Aussie’s Chairman Mr John Symond said today “We are delighted to re-igniting our long association with Rugby League, which dates back to the late 1990’s when we supported the schoolboys competition and several rugby league playing grounds more recently.

“Having played Rugby League at school many years ago, I have always wanted to get involved in one of Australia’s most exciting rivalries and I expect this year’s competition will again be a tightly fought contest”, he added.

The Chairman of the Australian and NSW Rugby Leagues, Mr Colin Love AM, said today that he was delighted to see Aussie so passionate about being a part of State of Origin.

“Aussie couldn’t have been more reassuring about their intentions to be a key partner in promoting the Blues. There’s a real enthusiasm about what we can achieve together in the years ahead.”
