How to transfer an existing credit card balance to your Aussie Credit Card
When you first apply for your Aussie card, you just need to fill out the balance transfer part of the application form. You can transfer from up to two other credit or store cards.
Once you are an Aussie MasterCard holder, you can transfer a balance from any non Aussie card at any time, subject to the balance transfer terms and conditions. To arrange the transfer call us on 13 13 77.
You’ll need to tell us:
- Who issued the card, e.g. Westpac, NAB, American Express.
- Your account number.
- The amount you want transferred.
Then we’ll arrange the transfer for you.
Same day balance transfers online
If you go online to request the transfer to your Aussie Credit Card before 6pm (EST) on a business banking day, the transfer will be processed by us that same day.
Online transfers requested after 6pm will be processed by us on the next business banking day.
Three days to process over the phone
If you request the transfer over the phone, it will take around 3 working days to process if approved.
If you’re a new Aussie Credit Card customer, a balance transfer will take 3 working days from the date you activate your Aussie MasterCard.
Notification the credit card transfer is successful
How soon the money will go into the account of your other card depends on the policy and systems of the issuer of that card.
We’ll send you a letter once the balance transfer has been completed by us. The transfer details will also appear on your Aussie MasterCard statement and the statement of your other card. You should continue to make repayments on any amounts outstanding with other cards until we notify you of the transfer.
Balance transfer charges
Aussie doesn't charge balance transfer transaction fees but you still have to pay the other normal fees and interest charges on your account.
Balance transfers and credit limits
Make sure your transfer doesn’t go over your credit limit because there is a charge for that as well. We will only process balance transfer requests up to 95% of the available credit limit on your card.
Check any automatic bill payments that you’ve set up, because if the payment and the transfer happen at the same time you could go over your limit. To delete any bill payments that you think might cause a problem, log in to your online account access and go to “Future Payments/Transfers”.
If you are an existing customer, we may be able to increase your limit to cover the transfer amount, which you need to apply for.
Repayments on credit card balance transfers
You can take as long as you like to pay off your balance transfer, as long as you stick to the Aussie MasterCard® Conditions of Use. Most importantly you need make the minimum monthly payment appearing on your monthly credit card statement.
