Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different motor vehicle insurance products offered by Aussie Insurance?

Aussie Insurance offers comprehensive, third party fire and theft, and third party motor vehicle insurance. Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance helps to protect you against damage you might cause to another person’s property, as well as covering your own car if it is stolen or damaged in an accident.

Third party property motor vehicle insurance offers no cover for your own car, but helps protect you against damage you might cause to other people’s property in an accident. Third party fire and theft motor vehicle insurance helps protect you in the same way as third party property motor vehicle insurance. However, this type of insurance also covers your car against loss or damage, to certain limits, caused by fire or theft.

What is an agreed value?

An agreed value is an amount Aussie Insurance can agree upon with you to insure your vehicle and is valid for the term of the motor vehicle insurance policy. When you take out comprehensive insurance or Third Party Fire and Theft with Aussie Insurance, your car will be insured for an agreed value.

What excesses apply for motor vehicle insurance?

When you take out motor vehicle insurance, you will need to choose a basic excess which will be the amount you need to pay in the event of a claim. • Age excess – For drivers under 21 and for drivers from 21- 24 years of age.
  • Inexperienced driver excess – For drivers over 25 years of age and over, who have not held an Australian license for more than two years.
  • Undeclared young driver excess – For a driver under the age of 25, who at the time of the accident has not been declared or nominated as a driver on your insurance policy.
  • Special Excess – A special excess may be applied to your insurance based on your driving record and insurance history. If a special excess is applied, you will be advised in writing and the excess will appear on your insurance certificate.
