Adelaide mortgage broker Scott Baker recently made a life changing journey to Mount Everest base camp, where he flew the Aussie flag on day five of the arduous nine day trek with his partner Christina.
The Torrensville broker said he planted the Aussie flag at the base of the world’s tallest mountain to inspire and honour all of the other 1,000 Aussie brokers who strive to reach new heights.
Scott said, “I found the trek truly life changing and I came to the understanding of our insignificance in the world. It was a terrific experience to refresh my mind despite the fact I was completely drained from walking 15km every day at such high altitudes.
“l’m not sure how many Aussie brokers and the general public have been to Mount Everest and Nepal but I recommend the trip to everyone as it was both an exciting and humbling experience”, he added.
Scott and Christina, who recently returned to Australia following their Nepalese adventure, spent a year planning and training for the 106km trek. They are already planning their next adventure – the Inca Trail in Peru.
Scott was a finalist for the AMA Young Gun of the Year in 2017.Trekking to Base Camp is not a decision to be taken lightly as the trek starts above 2,000 metres and reaches altitudes above 5,500 metres and includes trekking from between six to eight hours per day.
