This month Aussie Home Loans has helped provide almost 3,000 meals to vulnerable Australians.
Team members at the mortgage broker’s head office in Sydney donated over 950 kilograms of food in 136 food hampers, which provided much needed food relief to over 23 charity agencies.
The initiative is part of the renewed partnership between Aussie and food rescue charity OzHarvest, which extends their agreement until 2020.
The new agreement follows the inaugural two year partnership which enabled OzHarvest deliver more than one million meals to vulnerable Australians, through a mix of corporate donations and fundraising activities by Aussie Brokers and team members across the country.
CEO of Aussie, Mr James Symond, said “I am delighted that our team continues to be committed to enthusiastically helping OzHarvest, which puts much needed food directly in the hands of people who need it most at a grassroots and tangible level.”
Ms Ronni Kahn, Founder and CEO of OzHarvest, said “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the amazing team at Aussie, who are all passionate about our vision to create a world with zero food waste and free of hunger, and help achieve our purpose to Nourish Our Country.”
Since the partnership began in 2016, hundreds of Aussie mortgage brokers and team members have participated in a range of OzHarvest programs, including Cooking for a Cause where Aussie’s corporate teams transform rescued food into beautiful gourmet meals that are then delivered to charity agencies, as well as donation collections at Aussie retail stores, Christmas hamper drives and the CEO Cook-Off.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation collecting excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it free of charge to 1,300 charities. For more information, visit www.aussie.com.au or www.ozharvest.org.
