Australia’s leading mortgage broker, Aussie Home Loans, has partnered with food rescue charity OzHarvest, preparing food for more than 300 recipients at Ellenbrook Community Centre in Swan Valley.

The event was part of OzHarvest’s ‘Cooking For A Cause’ offering, which are unique corporate team building opportunities that allows team members to play a part in rescuing good quality surplus food and transforming it into beautifully-cooked, restaurant quality meals that are delivered directly to a number of charities that OzHarvest services.

Aussie’s State Manager for WA/SA, Mr Paul Evans, said “Our team of 40 mortgage brokers, team members and panel lenders from WA and SA displayed exceptional enthusiasm and effort at the event and successfully prepared 305 quality meals which were then delivered to two homeless service providers - 55 Central and Foundation Housing - and a Salvation Army women’s refuge.”

The Aussie team prepared delicious meals with the help of OzHarvest chefs. The meals included beef kofta with roast apple cous cous and yoghurt sauce, cauliflower and chickpea salad with a tahini dressing, pasta shells with sausage ragu, Moroccan carrot salad, corn fritters and minestrone soup.

OzHarvest’s WA State Manager, Jennifer Keen, said “Aussie demonstrated great passion, teamwork and a lot of love to create delicious meals under the supervision of our expert chefs. They got to learn a lot about food rescue and preparation while having a lot of fun.”

Aussie’s Chief Executive Officer, James Symond, said “We are proud of our WA and SA team members for donating their time and playing an important role in supporting the vital work of OzHarvest in the Perth community.”

In March 2016, Aussie announced its partnership with OzHarvest, which includes a substantial cash donation to support the charity, as well as programs in which Aussie’s more than 1,300 mortgage brokers and team members will fundraise and volunteer for the cause.
