Gagebrook named in unique Aussie/CoreLogic Report as the most popular suburb in Hobart for families
Monday, 1 January 2018
Gagebrook has emerged as Hobart’s most popular suburb for families with children, according to an exclusive report compiled by Australia’s leading mortgage broker, Aussie Home Loans and CoreLogic.
The Aussie/CoreLogic Most Popular Suburbs for Families report found that 56.1 per cent of all Gagebrook’s households have families with children, with typical house values at about $160,400.
The study, which took into account census data, median house and unit values, average land area and sales over the 2017 calendar year, found a lower proportion of suburbs occupied by families with children relative to other state capitals – reflective of the older age profile of Hobart residents.
Chief Executive of Aussie, Mr James Symond, said “The concentration of family households with kids drops closer to the city as housing prices are higher and block sizes are smaller.
“Tranmere is the most popular suburb for families with kids within 10km of the CBD, with the data showing 47.3 per cent of houses are occupied by families with kids. While prices are higher closer to the CBD, they remain low relative to other capital cities, with Risdon Vale the most affordable with a median house value of $199,000,” Mr Symond concluded.
