Hewett has emerged as Adelaide’s most popular suburb for families with children, according to an exclusive report compiled by Australia’s leading mortgage broker, Aussie Home Loans and CoreLogic.
The Aussie/CoreLogic Most Popular Suburbs for Families report found that 65.1 per cent of all Hewett’s households have families with children, with typical house values at $460,000. The report found that Hewett is well positioned with good access to arterial roads and a railway line, coupled with affordable prices.
The study, which took into account census data, median house and unit values, average land area and sales over the 2017 calendar year, found nine of Adelaide’s most popular suburbs for families are located in the northern suburbs and seven in the south.
Chief Executive of Aussie, Mr James Symond, said “The most affordable suburb in the top 20 is Andrews Farm, where 59.5 per cent of households are families with kids and the median house value is just $272,000.
“The most popular suburbs tend to be located at least 10 km away from the CBD, with only four located less than 10 km from the city centre. Adelaide is very family friendly and I would expect more families will be seeking the city as a place to live in future.”
Mr Symond concluded “There is no doubt the distance from the GPO is a key factor in the position of families with kids in Adelaide, however there are broad areas in the north and south of the city that continue to be popular and accessible to families.”
