Only months after opening a new Aussie Home Loans store, former manager at National Australia Bank, Pat Kokavec, and his wife Birgit, are thrilled by the response their store at Oakleigh in Victoria has received.
He said “We only opened our doors in July 2017 yet we’ve been bowled over by the volume of walk-ins we have had from day one. People who are passing our new store at Vicinity Shopping Centre are seeing the brand and are simply coming through our doors to say hello and see how we can help them with their home loans.
“There is no doubt the position of our store and the great name and market presence of Aussie have been the key factors in our success to date,” he added.
Pat left the NAB last year with a plan to set up his own mortgage broking business. After extensive research and considerable discussion and consultation with family and friends, Aussie was the standout. “None of my family members could identify with the other broking brands I was considering, but all of them knew and felt warm towards Aussie and its famous slogan ‘We’ll Save You’.
“It was a simple test, backed up by my own due diligence, but has proved to be very effective as the brand strength and the big purple sign above our doors have shown their power through the terrific response we have had so far to our new business venture”, he added.
Pat and Birgit are long-term residents of Oakleigh and are delighted with the flexibility and convenience afforded to them by having their own operation, with both now loving being busy helping their new customers navigate the complexity of the home loan market.
The majority of customers Pat and Birgit are helping are people renting in Oakleigh, a relatively expensive suburb of Melbourne, and looking to buy their first home outside of the area.
“Birgit and I are both comfortable in dealing with customers following the very comprehensive and practical training and induction we received at Aussie and the continued advice and support we receive from head office, mentors and other brokers,” said Patrick.
Aussie’s online forum, Chatter, is proving to be a big hit with the Kokavecs and other brokers, as their questions are answered by experienced brokers or head office quickly and accurately.
Pat concluded “We are sure we are driving the Aussie staff mad with our hundreds of questions but they have been very polite and helpful at all times, which is a huge advantage when you are a new franchisee. Given it’s such early days, our business has started out better than we could ever have anticipated. We’re thrilled.”
