Aussie Home Loans’ Ashfield store is an example of how business partners from diverse backgrounds with shared customer service philosophies can work together to create a successful business.
Co- franchisee of Aussie Ashfield, Mr Jeffrey Li, came to Australia many years ago to study accounting. He worked for Toshiba and Sony before pursuing his dream of starting his own business, which he did in 2013 with co-franchisee Dean Hammond. Dean previously worked in security for the Westfield Group.
The business partners now open the doors to their Ashfield store in a busy shopping centre seven days a week, and until 9pm on Thursday nights. The store has won several awards and Jeffrey credits the store’s success to their “always open” philosophy and key focus on customer service, where his team serves and interacts with many customers who are out shopping and curious about what the Aussie store can offer them.
“We have Aussie’s 22 lenders displayed on our shopfront and many shoppers are keen to find out if they can get a better home loan deal, buy their first home or see if they can help their children get into the property market”, he added.
Jeffrey said the store’s success shows that anyone who has passion and is prepared to work hard for their customers, can make the transition to be an Aussie franchisee.
He added that his degree in Professional Accounting at Macquarie University and Diplomas, including one in Mortgage Broking Management, are an advantage when structuring complex home loan finance, but not necessary to be a successful mortgage broker.
“I can calculate the numbers a bit quicker than others, while my Chinese language is obviously an advantage as the Ashfield area has many different Chinese-speaking ethnic groups”, he said.
Both Jeffrey and Dean are accredited members of the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) and sales support is provided by Melissa Dada. The team is committed to providing the most convenient and customer-centric services to its clients.
Jeffrey said “We are seeing a switch in demand for our services from investors to first home buyers who are keen to get into the property market on the back of the NSW Government’s grants and stamp duty exemptions”.
Aussie Ashfield is located at Shop22B, Ashfield Mall, 260A Liverpool Road, Ashfield, and is open between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, while Jeffrey and his team are also available on Saturday 9am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
