A joint study by Aussie Home Loans and CoreLogic has revealed the most affordable suburbs across Darwin, which has seen a major correction in prices since 2014.
CEO of Aussie, Mr James Symond, said “The correction has led to a substantial affordability boost for home buyers, with recent increases in settlement activity a clear sign that buyers are taking advantage of the lower housing prices.”
Six of the 20 most affordable suburbs to buy a house in Darwin are showing a median value lower than $400,000, with the cheapest being Moulden with a median value of $303,522.
The unit market across Darwin has seen values fall a lot more than houses since prices started trending lower in 2014. Ten of Darwin’s 15 most affordable suburbs for units have a median value less than $300,000. The cheapest suburb is Bakewell with a median value of just $230,317.
Buying within 10km of the Darwin CBD still provides a range of affordable detached housing options, with Alawa the cheapest suburb at a median house value of $404,218. Marrara offers the most affordable units at $242,198.
“If you’re saving up to buy your first home or investment property, now’s a great time to speak with an Aussie Broker. Our report reveals some quality affordable housing in suburbs across Darwin, and with record low interest rates buying a property could be more achievable than you know,” said Mr Symond.
