Our report identified the outer southern fringe of Brisbane as the most affordable for houses within 20 kilometres of the city, with Gailes coming out on top with a median house price below $250,000.
Rocklea is the most affordable suburb for houses within 10 kilometres of the CBD with a median value of $353,000, followed by Tingalpa in the east and Salisbury in the south all under $500,000.
Meanwhile the most affordable suburb for apartments within 20 kilometres of Brisbane’s CBD is Woodridge, where the median apartment value is $195,000.
The most affordable suburb for apartments within 10 kilometres of the CBD is Holland Park West, with a median unit value of $347,000.
Many of the most affordable suburbs have great transport links. Gailes, Rocklea and Woodridge have their own train stations and Holland Park West is well serviced by a dedicated busway. These types of services are great for young professionals and first time buyers who need affordability but with good accessibility to the CBD
