We reveal the top suburbs in Australia’s most affordable city
As well as being the most affordable city in Australia for houses, Hobart also posted a 1% fall in property values over the last year.
This is great news for buyers looking to get into the market, especially first timers, so we’ve gone a step further to find THE most affordable suburbs in the country’s most affordable city.
Within 20 kilometres of Hobart, 17 of the top 20 most affordable suburbs have a median house price tag under $300,000.
Glenorchy City Council has the most suburbs in our top 20, but Brighton Council’s Gagebrook came out on top with a median value of $135,000.
Clarendon Vale is the most affordable suburb for houses within 10 kilometres of the CBD with a median price of $156,000.
Eighteen of the top 20 suburbs are in the Clarence and Glenorchy City Council areas.
For apartments, the most affordable suburb within 20 kilometres of the CBD is Claremont, with a median price tag of $195,000.
Closer in to the city, Glenorchy is the most affordable suburb for units, with a median value of $199,000.
