For many aspiring renovators, the bathroom is often the first port of call. Tiles, basins, shower heads and doors tend to top the to-do list.
Now, however, renovators have a few more options than in the past. Built in speakers, personalised playlists, vibrating bathtubs and flat screen TVs are all finding their way into our wash area.
Late last year we read about the emergence of Smart Homes. With technology helping to drive down the cost of home automation systems more than ever before, heating, lighting and music are all able to be controlled centrally from a smartphone or tablet.
We’re all familiar with iPhones and iPads, but what about an iPoo? It’s the fancy name critics have given to a toilet that has a heated seat, in-built speakers and an iPhone docking station. For some, this may sound like an unnecessary luxury but it is an invention that has become extremely popular for hoardes of bathroom renovators world-wide.
Open homes and home expos have been revealing heating coils in bathroom floor tiles to ensure our feet will never be cold again. No more standing on tip toes waiting for the shower to heat up on those cold winter mornings!
Thin TV’s are making the integration of screens into bathrooms easier than ever before. Some bathroom manufacturers have even gone as far as manufacturing touch screen mirrors.
Leading international bathroom brand Roca has recently introduced a mirror that in their words will “perform miraculous acts”. These include:
- playing a stereo FM radio
- producing an illuminate light
- prevent mist or steam from engulfing and settling on the face of the mirror, due to an integrally embedded demister
- magically running a clock and display temperature
- an auxiliary audio source enabling connection to MP3 player
If all this sounds good then feel free to rejoice, as sooner or later all bathrooms are going to have tech on tap.
