Use our handy checklist to find a broker that ticks all the boxes.
Choosing a mortgage broker is a big step. You’re putting a lot of trust in their hands so it pays to partner with a broker who is professional, trustworthy and who is prepared to invest the time understanding your needs in order to recommend the loan that’s right for you.
Our 6-point broker checklist can help you narrow down the choice.
How long has your company been in operation?
You want a broker with experience, right? Aussie has been shaking up the home loan industry for 25 years. We know the market, and every Aussie broker works closely with lenders to understand how their loans work, and what they look for in a loan application.
What choice of loans can you offer?
The greater the number of lenders your broker works with, the more likely it is your home loan will suit your needs and offer a great rate too. Aussie offers a choice of almost 3,000 home loans across the market so we really can offer something for just about everyone.
Are you a member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA)?
Membership to an industry body ensures your broker is following strict standards in regards to professional and ethical behaviour. In case you’re wondering, all Aussie Mortgage Brokers are fully accredited by the MFAA.
What if I’m unsure about leaving my current lender?
You certainly don’t need a loan thrust upon you that you’re not comfortable with. If you’re happy with your current lender, that’s fine. But a good broker will at least review the market to see if you could save with a lower rate or enjoy more flexible loan features.
How much does your service cost?
The whole point of using a mortgage broker is to secure a great home loan deal – free from hassle and stress. You shouldn’t have to pay a fee for your mortgage broker’s help, and your loan shouldn’t cost more than if you approached a lender direct. Your local Aussie broker is paid by lenders after your loan is settled, so our home loan service comes at no cost to you.
I’m pressed for time, can you come to me?
A good broker understands you’re busy and should be flexible enough to meet at a time and place that’s convenient for you – maybe a local café, during your lunch break or even after hours in your own home.
