It is positioned right near the F3 Expressway, providing easy access for residents commuting to Sydney as well as a train line for those who prefer to use public transport.
It has two major attractions, one being the Forest of Tranquillity – a beautiful rainforest area which is home to almost 200 species of rainforest flora and sanctuary to more than 126 species of native birds. It offers fantastic scenic bushwalks as well as function centres, a number of picnic and recreation areas. They hold special shows during the evening called Firefly Magic which starts at dusk during the summer months and offers visitors a glimpse of creaturesof the forest stirring from their afternoon slumbers and venturing out to play.
Its other attraction is the Ourimbah campus of the University of Newcastle, which offers a number of options for tertiary study including business, nursing, social science and arts. It has a vibrant student life and is popular within the region.

Lifelong resident Karen also wrote: “Ourimbah is a small town with railway station and University. Only 10 mins to major shopping centres, 15 mins to beaches and sits just off Newcastle-Sydney Expressway. Ideal for commuters. Beautiful country atmosphere. Many acreages and sporting facilities.”
Another local expert Ange added: “Ourimbah RSL services should get a mention + local businesses, the primary school is highly recommended with quality teachers, reputable achievements, curriculum using own resources/bushland setting, great demographic of people.”
