Housing affordability in Sydney is an increasingly popular topic of conversation (and concern!), so we wanted to find out if and, importantly, where you can still buy at a reasonable price in the country’s most expensive city.
We partnered with property data gurus CoreLogic RP Data to reveal what the most affordable suburbs for houses and apartments are within 10kms and 20kms of Sydney’s CBD.
Eastlakes surprised as the most affordable suburb for units within 10kms of the city. It has a median value of just over $484,000.
If you don’t mind being a little further out, there are four suburbs with median unit values under $400,000 within 20kms of the city including Lakemba, Wiley Park and Punchbowl down the Bankstown train line, and Regents Park.
Canterbury, Bankstown and Parramatta councils undoubtedly have the most affordable suburbs for houses and apartments within 20kms of the CBD. Birrong is the most affordable suburb for houses, with a median price tag of $644,000.
