It’s spring at last. The bulbs are popping up, the blossom trees are in bloom and the delightful scents of wattle and jasmine drift through the warmer air. Of course, all that new growth and energy also makes spring a perfect time of year to give your home a freshen up. Yes, it’s time for a bit of elbow grease and a thorough spring clean.
I’m a big fan of cleaning expert and best-selling author, Shannon Lush. Her practical advice when it comes to cleaning appeals to the Virgo in me!
“There’s no need to spring clean,” she assures readers. “What you should do is spend 15 minutes each day cleaning one room on a cycle. Then you’ll never have to spring clean!”
Not being as super-organised as Ms Lush, I demur. Besides, I love the blitz aspect of spring cleaning and taking the house from clutter (okay, chaos at times) to serenely spit-and-polished perfection. Even if it doesn’t last for long.
And, of course, there’s nothing I love more than preparing a list of tasks (daily lists, weekly lists, you name it lists) and ticking off those boxes with well-earned satisfaction.
So come along and join me in my four-weekend challenge to spring clean my home from top to bottom!
Here’s what you’ll be doing over the next few weeks:
- Week 1 – Cleaning outside walls and windows
- Week 2 – Blitzing the kitchen and bathroom
- Week 3 – Floors, walls, ceilings and windows
- Week 4 – Clutter busting the cupboards
If you start this weekend, you’ll have a sparkly home by the October Long Weekend, ready to invite friends and family over for some awesome entertaining.
Be sure to share your progress on our Facebook page we love seeing how you tackle these projects so be sure to post a photo of you taking action now to inspire other Aussies to do the same.
